This post shows you the thrift store clothing finds after the holidays!

So in an earlier post, I suggested Mondays and Tuesdays are the best days for thrift store finds. Which I still think is true!

But, I randomly decided to go to Goodwill this past Saturday and wow, did I find some gems. Just goes to show, take any advice with a grain of salt!

Pin to save!

However, I do attribute this to being the month of January and after the holidays.

Many people are donating things to make room for new but hey, I am not complaining!

I love the haul I came away with.

I use the word ‘haul’ lightly here since it’s five items. I was intentional about buying pieces that I love and my mom does too, which is good, since half of it is for her!

I want to prove that’s it’s not just about the cheaper price, these clothes can truly bring out another version of you!

What I Learned About Thrifting On a Saturday

  • It’s okay to leave with little to no stuff. I left with a mini thrift haul of 5 items today but they are quality pieces. Five items for $30.00!
  • Be wary of nosy people. There are more eyes on weekends and nosy people who are not shy about looking or shopping in your cart if you’re not paying attention! Be decisive and be quick!
  • Dressing rooms are your friend. After trying on clothes in the dressing room, I quickly narrowed down to 3 pieces and ended up only buying two! (Plus three pieces for my mom).

5 Vintage Thrift Store Finds That You’ll Absolutely Love

#1 100% Cashmere Camel Coat

I couldn’t believe I found this beautiful cashmere coat for 6.49 at Goodwill. The first thing that caught my eye was the camel color and then I realized it was incredibly soft to the touch.

The coat was too big for me but I imagined it would be perfect for my mom. If she didn’t love it, I could always return.

The only drawback was a small white stain at the bottom.

It also looks like someone tried to sew an attachment on the back. Don’t come for me but I think this fur is real! Which makes me even more curious about the coat.

I’m not sure of the origin, I tried to look up the label, which probably originates in the 1960s and 1970s.

I immediately posed with the one luxury bag I have ever bought: a Dooney and Bourke purse.

I showed this picture to my mom and she said it reminded her of her grandmother at a young age, embarking on a new journey in Chicago.

  • 100% Camel Cashmere Coat

It’s exactly the vibe that I got from taking this picture, like I went back in time! It’s regal, classic, and represents subtle strength.

I’m so glad I could buy this coat for my mom! It’s perfect for walking along the streets of Chicago, Detroit, and New York.

# 2 AM Studio Women’s Leather Jacket

In an earlier post, I wrote about finding a leather jacket which was a little out of my comfort zone for my personal aesthetic.

You probably won’t believe me that I found another one but I did. This one was an extra large, too big for me and why would I need another one anyway?

But my mom was a fan so I quickly snagged this one for her as an everyday casual piece that she can layer with other pieces.

This one is soft lamb leather and the silica packets were still in the pockets meaning it’s most likely never been worn.

And it has a zipper! SCORE! It fits her perfectly, and is a classic staple piece to her wardrobe collection.

#3 Tommy Hilfiger Knit Sweater

I love knit sweaters. They are thick, snug, warm, and can be worn for almost any occasion.

I’m also on a Tommy Hilfiger kick. I’m not sure if this piece is vintage but it feels heavy and well constructed.

The bonus about living in an area with a warm climate is that no one tends to go for those heavier winter pieces but I know layering with all kinds of pieces is the best route to go.

This sweater would be ideal as a work from home outfit. I can wear this sweater by itself or layer with another shirt for something warmer. Which leads me to my next piece.

#4 Italian Silk Shirt

I’ve been on the search for more luxurious and breathable fabrics and came across this silk shirt.

The first thing that stuck out to me was the sheen of the fabric. Satin also is shiny but this had a different shine to it.

After feeling the material, the second thing that stuck out to me was the tag which says “Made in Italy.” A good tip for finding higher quality fabrics is if they weren’t made in China. I checked the inside tag which says “Soie” which is silk in Italian!

I’m not sure if this shirt is a good idea in the humid climates of Florida but it would be perfect for vacations and simple layering.

#5 Broadway Fuzzy Green Cardigan

I found this fuzzy nylon green cardigan and thought it would be a great work-from-home staple.

The dirty mirror makes it look not so cute but I promise it was!

At first, I loved the idea of having this color in my closet. But after time passed, I realized I liked the sweater but I didn’t love it.

Some sweaters you can get away with that are less fitted but I just didn’t feel comfortable so I’ll be returning. Great unique find though!
