Do you want to look good from the inside out? Learn how to enhance your assets and finesse your flaws with these fool-proof tips!
Confidence is the best thing you could ever wear. The right outfit can make a person feel unstoppable.
And every woman knows when you look good, you feel good.
Learning how to dress with confidence isn’t just about following trends; it’s about highlighting your strengths and downplaying anything that makes you feel self-conscious.
It’s important to stay authentically you if you want to be naturally confident, and knowing when to tune outside noise of influencers and brands can help you do that.
Sometimes even the most fierce women could use a little pick me up at times.
The ultimate goal? To feel pretty, powerful, and completely yourself!
How To Dress With Confidence Everyday
1 Stop Buying Clothes for the Future Version of You
Are you waiting to lose that extra 10 pounds before you can wear your favorite dress?
There are so many clothes in my closet with the tags still on for years because I am still waiting to gain weight to wear them.
Not only is this taking up valuable real estate in my closet but I’ve reduced myself to a few basic pieces while I play the “weighting game.”
Nothing is more discouraging than waiting for permission to wear your favorite dress. Learn to live in the present and buy things that look amazing on you, today!
2 Don’t Take Sizes Too Seriously
I didn’t realize how much sizes didn’t matter until I started thrifting. The sheer difference in size by brand is enough to make you never look at a clothing tag again.
Did you know that companies make clothes in universal sizes to fit a range of body types?
This means that a size 10 doesn’t truly mean a size 10 and is a good reason why you should stop obsessing over numbers.
When I shop brands at a thrift store, with some, I’m a size 2 and in others, I’m an 8!
Imagine, how many amazing outfits I would have missed out on if I just continued to stick myself in a box. This is your reminder to try on everything, no matter the size!
3. Buy a Three-Way Mirror
Three-way mirrors aren’t just for barbers and hairstylists.
Invest in one to see how outfits make you look from behind! Because believe me, everyone else is too!
Get to know yourself in the most intimate way possible and just stand in the mirror for a full 360-degree view, completely naked!
Be honest with yourself about what your true assets are and what you’d like to camouflage.
The larger the mirror, the further back you can stand to observe how to look more confident.
4 Wear Solid Colors
If all else fails, wear solid colors. Black dominates every other color in my closet and makes me look chic every time.
This is not to say to avoid prints, because we need more color, fun, and excitement in our outfits.
But if you’re not used to wearing prints, a loud pattern mixed with bright colors can quickly go from cute to chaos.
They can even make you look like you put on a few extra pounds!
As a skinny petite girl, I wouldn’t mind this but if you’ve never worn a print before, best to stick to solid colors!
5 Find People That Look Like You
There is nothing worse than looking up to fashion models who look nothing like you but are revered as the beauty standard.
This happens so often in society and the fashion industry profits off making women feel insecure about themselves.
Turn off the mainstream fashion shows with unrealistic models and celebrities and follow people who look like you with the same body type!
Many fashionable women have learned to highlight the parts they are proud of while hiding the parts they are less fond of.
6 Wear the Clothes, Don’t Let Them Wear You
Do you jump on every fashion trend? This is how so many people fall victim to clothing pieces that they should never be wearing in the first place.
I can admit when skinny jeans came out when I was younger, I jumped on the trend and have regretted it ever since.
Skinny jeans made my flat feet look huge. I hated wearing tight clothes and they made my chest look bigger than ever. I was an unbalanced ‘P’ shape throughout high school!
Moral of the story? It’s okay to sit out a trend. Everything is not for you.
7 Go for a Customized Fit
The secret to making what you’re wearing look is a perfect fit. It’s rare to pick up a clothing item in a store that will be perfect for your body type.
Again, many of these merchandisers produce clothes to fit a range of sizes. If you want to be a showstopper, consider finding a good tailor.
It’s not super expensive, maybe 30-40 dollars per item.
But if you’re frugal like me, commit to learning a skill and learn how to sew to make every piece you wear turn heads!

8 Love Yourself More Than Anyone Else
If you don’t stand in your authenticity and truly love yourself, no one else will.
People are always going to look at you, whether you’re dressed well or poorly.
I’ll never know which one they’re thinking unless they say it out loud but I take every glance as a compliment.
Most people do not take time to know themselves, so take it as a compliment when someone is a hater. It’s projection because they could never be as confident to wear what they want.
And if you are one of these judgy people, stop judging yourself so harshly!
Learn how to observe your thoughts and change them over time. If your default is thinking, “I’m fat,” start changing to, “I’m beautiful.”
Repeating words of affirmation will change your mindset over time.
Our words are powerful, so why not create the most positive reality?
9 Highlight Your Best Features
A focal point—whether it’s a bold red lip, an attractive bustline, or beautiful hair—gives your look a personal, confidence-boosting touch.
Own it, and let it become your style trademark.
The eye will naturally travel where you want it to.
I feel my nicest assets are my shoulders so I love off-the-shoulder shirts or flowy shirts with cut-outs.
10 Own Your Posture
An outfit only looks as good as the confidence with which it’s worn.
Do the internal work to heal and accept yourself for who you are and it will naturally spill to the outside.
Stand tall, pull your shoulders back, and walk with purpose.
A confident posture can make even the simplest outfit look amazing.
