Thrifting Tips
Going to the thrift store can be an overstimulating experience if you don’t know what you’re looking for. If you’re browsing, be prepared to spend at least a couple of hours to find items that you’ll love.
- Inspect Fabric Quality. It’s important to feel every item to get familiar with cheap vs. high-quality fabrics. Inspect the fabric tags to become more knowledgeable.
- Check seasonal finds. Thrift stores for finding hidden gems after the winter holiday or towards the start of spring for “spring cleaning.” It’s a good idea to check at the end of any season.
- Shop the men’s section. Men’s clothes are usually of higher fabric quality. I’ve found my favorite jackets, oversized sweaters, and vests this way.
