This post shows you cute thrift store outfit ideas!

Thrifting is the secret to high-quality at a low price! With thrifting, you can be unique and express yourself through fashion more than ever!

Listen. When I look good, I feel good. I love to dress up and look cute. I just don’t like spending a lot of money to do it!

That’s where thrifting comes in. Shopping secondhand at thrift stores seems to be more trendy these days, and I’m loving it!

Because not only does thrifting save you money, but you can shop sustainably and express your authentic self in one outfit.

Plus, I’ve been experimenting with my style so Goodwill has been my favorite place to shop.

But would you believe me if I said I used to be strongly against thrifting?

I know, I know. I was ignorant and thought it was beyond gross buying secondhand clothes. But thank God for growth!

The reality is that I’ve never found so many high-quality clothing items at such a low price. The gems are unmatched!

Things to keep an eye out for:

  • Work attire
  • Vintage brands
  • Basic dresses for layering
  • Unique accessories
  • Barely worn high heels
  • Nice coats and jackets
  • Clothes with original store tags on
  • Dresses with lots of fabric for DIY sewing

Thrifting Tips

Going to the thrift store can be an overstimulating experience if you don’t know what you’re looking for. If you’re browsing, be prepared to spend at least a couple of hours to find items that you’ll love.

  • Inspect Fabric Quality. It’s important to feel every item to get familiar with cheap vs. high-quality fabrics. Inspect the fabric tags to become more knowledgeable.
  • Check seasonal finds. Thrift stores for finding hidden gems after the winter holiday or towards the start of spring for “spring cleaning.” It’s a good idea to check at the end of any season.
  • Shop the men’s section. Men’s clothes are usually of higher fabric quality. I’ve found my favorite jackets, oversized sweaters, and vests this way.

Hopefully these 5 thrift store outfit ideas will inspire your own secondhand shopping trip!

#1 Thrift Store Outfit Ideas: Classic Stripes

Goodwill is the best place to find basics. This black and white midi dress is simple, cute, and fits in all the right places.

I was searching for pieces that would be easy to mix and match and wouldn’t take a lot of time to accessorize. And I’m a sucker for stripes!

Dresses are not only economical, but easy to layer for multiple looks. This combo can go from a day at work to a night out easily.

Throw on a cardigan sweater to keep it cute, modest, and professional.

#2 Thrift Store Outfit Ideas: Vintage Color Blocked Shirts

You can’t go wrong with classic American style. Sometimes a bit of nostalgia is just enough to make a bold statement.

This is perfect for those who love classic style with a hint of sophistication. I like the stripes in this bold look from a vintage Tommy Hilfiger color blocked shirt.

I would pair this with white pants, a watch and pearls or diamond stud earrings to upgrade to a classier look.

#3 Thrift Store Outfit Ideas: Monochrome Drama

Want to command attention in a bold way?

Choose a bold and graphic t-shirt or sweatshirt to go under a blazer.

I don’t usually wear blazers for a regular look but I love the monochrome drama of this fit. It’s a quick way to dress up an outfit or to look professional in a hurry.

Office clothes are popular at Goodwill and my favorite place to find fitted blazers. If you like experiment, but aren’t up for color, try going for a piece you never wear!

Pair with tights, boots, and your choice of silver accessories for a casual and fun, but super chic look.

  • Tiger Sweatshirt: 4.99
  • Worthington Blazer: 6.99

#4 Thrift Store Outfit Ideas: Classic and Cute

I love this BCBG dress! Not only does the color look amazing on my skin tone, but the bell shape is perfect.

I’ve gone through a period where I’ve lost a lot of weight so I’ve struggled to fit into my old clothes. I’m in between weights as they would say.

Sometimes I feel too skinny so layering is my go to for pieces that give illusion of shape. I love this piece so much, I even found a 2nd one in black!

If you’re feeling self conscious and want to give the illusion of curves, go for dress that flare out like this.

I also love that it’s sleeveless and I can easily layer with a shawl or cardigan. I paired this with ankle boots. I think any neutral color shoe would work with this dress.

Ya’ll, I was beyond happy when I found a genuine leather black jacket at Goodwill for less than $10. And it actually fits!

I consider myself to be a more feminine and cute girly so this outfit definitely makes me feel like an East Coast girl. Just something about leather gives grit and strength.

This combo is perfect for fall and winter, and of course, you have to add the boots to complete the outfit.

Pair leather jackets with pretty much anything but I love the play between hard and soft here. Balance is everything when it comes to fashion!
